Secret Garden Korean drama Review

Friday, May 20, 2011

This was one of the best korean drama I've watch in a while. I've describe it once and said it was the most realistic yet unrealistic drama I've seen. I think you will agree with me when you finish watching it.

Summary:

The story is about a rich guy Kim Joo Won who falls in love with a poor stunt woman Gil Ra Im. Joo Won knowing his big responsibility for the family knows the fact that he can never be with Gil Ra Im. Despite the attraction they felt for each other this obstacle stopped them from moving forward. But after going to a mystic place called "Secret Garden" and drinking the homemade alcohol the lady gave, their bodies swapped. Giving them a chance to see the life each other live. After realizing the differences between the world they live in will they cross the line and fight for their love?

Characters:

Kim Joo Won: Hyun Bin's character was really good in this drama. He was not like rich guys in other dramas who falls in love with a poor woman and leave everything behind.  His personality was realistic he knows his responsibility and takes it seriously. But despite this he have shown how much he loved Gil Ra Im. Hyun Bin's acting was also good and he lost weight since the Kim Sam Soon days.

Gil Ra Im: Ha Ji Won's character was also good because she was kind but not stupid. Her job in the movie was also different since she was a stunt woman which gave the story more color. Ha Ji Won has always been a good actress ever since and she prove it once again in this drama.

Oska: Yoon Sang Hyun's character was funny and lovable. I love his encounters with Gil Ra Im since she was  a big fan of him. I also don't see why his character was made into an idol without any talent when he's clearly a good singer. He is Joo Won's cousin and they live in the same compound. Although a womanizer he have only kept one woman in his heart Yeun Sul.

Yeun Sul: Kim Sarang's character was in love with Oska but because of his betrayal to her she decided to take revenge and marry Joo Won because he was Oska's cousin and it will benefit the business of both families. Her character was the most unpredictable of all because you won't know what she will do next. Will she be evil or will she be good.

Director Im: Philip Lee was Gil Ra Im's director in the action school. He is secretly in love with her and has been looking after her like a real family. His character was the most enduring of all since he supported Ra Im in whatever she does including her love for Joo Won.

Over all it was a good drama with a very good phasing and solid story to back it up. The writer of this drama was really clever highly recommended and one more thing i love is Joo Won's house it was amazing from the scenery outside the house to the interior it looks like my dream house. :))

I really fell in love with this song after watching the movie Love in Disguise

All The Things You Never Knew
Ni bu zi dao de shi

Lyrics:

Hu die zha ji chi yan jing
How many times does a butterfly blink
Cai xue hui fei xing
Before it learns to fly?
Ye kong sai man le xing xing
The sky is sprinkled over with countless stars
Dan ji ke hui luo di
But how many there will remain?
Wo fei xing Dang ni zui luo zhi ji
Even as I fly, you fall
Hen kao jing Hai ting jian hu xi
So close I can hear you breathe
Dui bu qi Wo que mei zhuo jin ni
So sorry I didn’t keep hold of you
Ni bu zhi dao wo wei shen me li kai ni
You don’t know why I had to leave you
Wo jian chi bu neng shuo fang ren ni ku qi
How could I ignore your every cry
Ni de lei di xiang qing pen da yu Sui luo man di
All the while the downpour of your tears shattering the ground
Zai xin li qing xi
So clearly pierced my heart
Ni bu zhi dao wo wei shen me hen xia xin
You don’t know why I had to keep away
Pan xuan zai ni kan bu jian de gao kong li
Circling in the sky above, just out of sight
Duo de shi Ni bu zi dao de shi

Love in Disguise Chinese Movie Review

I didn't expect much of this movie but it made me smile upon finishing it. I also didn't expect it to be a musical film cause of the title but i was surprise to hear unique sounds from traditional Chinese instruments and most of all this movie introduced me to Wang Lee Hom. After reading his wiki page I was impressed by the fact that his an all around entertainer from a musician to a movie director. Love in Disguise was also his directorial debut. Being a big fan of Jay Chou i can't help but compare the two of them. All respect to the two of them.

Summary:

The story is about DMH a famous pop star whose passion for music is overshadowed by his pop image. With this reason he felt a lot of things lacking in his life. Until one day he meets an ordinary college girl Liu Yi Fie who plays a Chinese traditional instrument by accident. Hearing the girl play he saw beautiful butterflies flying across the dark night. Bothered by this he decided to look for the girl and disguise himself as an ordinary college student with his friend. Eventually finding the girl he soon fell in love with her and the conflict of him being a famous pop star comes back. Strangled with his ordinary college life and famous pop star status will he be able to show who he really his to the girl he loves.

I'm quit familiar with Liu Yi Fie because Love of the Condor Heroes was shown in the Philippines. She's really pretty and young in that series. She's one of the prettiest Chinese actress I've seen besides Zhang Ziyi.

I'll make another post especially for the Ost because it's worth another post :)

Sophie's Revenge Chinese Movie Review

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

1The story was very cute I was actually in a bad mood when i decided to watch it but after watching it I felt a lot better. It's a really feel good movie with extremely famous cast. Zhang Ziyi as Sophie, Peter Ho as Gorden, Fan Bingbing as Joanna, So Ji-sub as Jeff.

One of my favorite chinese actress is Zhang Ziyi so when i saw this i did not hesitate to give it a try. The story was typical but really funny. Sophie was dumped for Joanna a movie star so she tries her best to take revenge on her ex boyfriend Jeff and in the end get him back. With her love gone and the demand to pass a new comic book before the due date she decided to use her comic book to show different ways to win your love back and of course with her as the first person to try each methods. After all the mishaps that happened  Jeff seems to start regretting the fact she left Sophie but Sophie on the other hand have became unsure of what she really feels because of Gorden who has been there for her all along while she was trying to win her boyfriend back.

It was quite refreshing to see Zhang Ziyi taking up this role because she always takes on serious roles with lots of fight scenes and seeing the Korean actor So Jisub in the movie shocked me. It's a must watch with pure fun and love painted all over th movie.

The Liar Game Jdrama Review

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

I know this Japanese drama is quit old compared to others but if you have not watched it then I can highly recommend you give it a try. I've been looking for a drama that would make me think and not feel frustrated everytime the lead character fails to get the girl or dies etc. So the story begins when Nao Kanzaki Erika Toda described by people as too honest for her own good receives an invitation to take part in The Liar Game Tournament accidentally falling into the point of no return she decided to ask the help of Akiyama Shinichi Matsuda Sho a genius swindler who just got out of prison. A lot of games have been set up testing both Akiyama's brilliance and Nao's unwavering trust for people. With a big amount of money at stake use to lure the players will they find the truth in all the lies?

This series Liar Game made me realize a lot of things. Yes as the show portrays people are weak only caring about themselves and lying for their own good but that is why we have each other to fill up this weakness and trust each other. It's sad that all people know that lying is bad but we still do it (yes I didn’t exclude myself because I would lie if I have too.) I stand 50/50 on my trust issues I can trust people with all my heart but once you betray me no matter what you do you won't my trust back if only I can learn how to trust unconditionally like Nao.

Characters:

Nao Kanzaki I have to admit i found her super stupid when i was starting to watch the series but after some time I've realized how essential her character was including her personality. She's those few people who make us strive to be a better person ourselves. Someone who can prove us that not all people are the same that in this world full of liars, true and honest people still remains. After realizing this  my view on her character change drastically.

Akiyama Shinichi This guy was brilliant in every sense. He was really a genius so I thought he was the one helping Nao from the very start making plans and strategy to win the Liar game but it was the other way around Nao was teaching him something he would never acquire even if he is the smartest person in the world.

So I’m breaking my plans for this May by coming out with this drama review because I really enjoyed the series after making me think of ways to solve their problems and making me confuse about whose lying or not it made me go back to the most essential part of the game which is Trust.

The Liar Game is consist of two seasons and one movie. I hope you enjoyed watching it as much as i did :)
